The Born To Win Foundation, co-founded by US-based Ghanaian Koby Maxwell and his partner David Danso, who is also known as Chairman, has made a substantial contribution of hospital equipment worth nearly $10,000 to the Saltpong Hospital in the Central Region.
Koby Maxwell, the Ghanaian based in the US, shared that despite the challenges they faced in clearing the hospital equipment and other materials for donation from the harbor, he feels a deep sense of fulfillment from supporting the hospital.
In a recent interview with Koby Maxwell following the donation, he revealed that he had spent a night at the hospital and witnessed the conditions firsthand.

“Three years ago, a health issue led me to the hospital, and I had the opportunity to witness the challenges they face there. It was quite overwhelming, but I was struck by the professionalism and dedication of the night nurse, who did everything in their power to assist me,” he disclosed.
Koby Maxwell went on to explain that since that experience, he has maintained contact with the hospital and is well aware of the ongoing challenges they face.
“Sometimes, I receive messages about patients who have passed away at the hospital due to the lack of essential supplies. These are seemingly small things, but they deeply affect me. I decided that we should take the initiative to make a positive impact, and through this, I believe others will be inspired to lend their support,” he added.
Regarding the origins of the Born to Win Foundation, Koby Maxwell recounted that it all began when a close friend of his was about to give birth at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
He recalled, “Around ten years ago, during a visit to Ghana, I met a taxi driver who happened to be a friend. His wife was on her way to the maternity ward to give birth, so I accompanied them to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. Unfortunately, when we arrived, there was a shortage of beds at the hospital, and the expectant mother had to lie on the floor.”
He continued, “I was deeply affected by the situation. Imagine a newborn starting life on the hospital floor—it was as though they were already starting at a disadvantage. I realized that this was not an isolated incident but a recurring problem that many people faced.”
Inspired by this experience, Koby Maxwell composed a song called “Born to Win Foundation” with the aim of addressing the issue and finding ways to support the government in improving the conditions for newborns.
In summary, the Born To Win Foundation, in collaboration with David Danso (Chairman), strives to provide a better foundation for newborns, ensuring that their entry into the world is a dignified and safe experience.
